History
The Peninsula Golf and Country Club golf course is the only Donald Ross designed golf course on the West Coast. The first course, laid out by Tom Bendelow, once hosted Harry Vardon and Ted Ray in 1913. Club President Walter Stettheimer secured additional land and the services of Donald Ross in 1922 to completely redesign the course. During a major remodel in the 1990’s, the Club used newly discovered photographs and drawings, coupled with state-of-the-art drainage and irrigation, and restored the Donald Ross designed golf course in 2001-03, preserving a Golden Age Classic course.
