Our staff, members, and the Board of Directors are delighted to welcome you to our Club. We hope that you find the following information helpful as you enjoy our facilities as the invited guest of a member. If you have any questions, please contact your member host.

In order to best enjoy your experience, we ask that you please observe the following Club policies:

The PGCC dress code is a reflection of the Club’s traditions and values as a long-standing golf and country club on the San Francisco Peninsula. Members and Spouses are responsible for assuring that their families and guests are aware of these standards and abide by them. These standards apply to all adults and children. At the direction of the Board of Directors, Club Management will deny privileges to any individual not considered appropriately attired.

8.2.1 Clubhouse Dress Code:

  1. (a)  Grille: Proper golf attire, racquet attire and Dress Denim are always permitted. Swimwear is not permitted. Shirts other than proper golf or racquet attire must have collars and be tucked in. T-Shirts that are not racquet appropriate (e.g., logos larger than a dollar bill, sports teams) and sweaty attire of any kind are not permitted. Men are required to remove their hats.

  2. (b)  Oval Bar and Lounge: Proper golf attire and Dress Denim are always permitted. Proper racquet attire is permitted until 5:00pm. Swimwear and flip-flops are not permitted. Shirts other than proper golf attire must have collars and be tucked in. Men are required to remove their hats.

  3. (c)  The Peninsula Dining Room, Beresford Room, and Ballroom: Proper golf and racquet attire is permitted until 5:00pm. After 5:00pm, men must be attired in long pants and collared tucked-in shirts and are encouraged to wear a jacket or sport coat. Dress Denim is permitted, unless noted for a Club event. Swimwear and flip-flops are not permitted. Men are required to remove their hats.

  4. (d)  Terrace Café and Pool: Proper attire includes appropriate and tasteful swimwear, clean workout attire and Dress Denim. Hats (visor facing forward), sandals, flip-flops and appropriate T-Shirts are permitted.

  5. (e)  Wellness Center: Clean workout attire with appropriate closed-toe athletic shoes is required. Shirts (without rips) must be always worn. Hats (visor facing forward) are permitted. Dress Denim while exercising and short shorts are not permitted.

  6. (f)  Kalb Tennis Center: Proper racquet attire is required. Collarless T-Shirts designated as racquet attire are permitted. Dress Denim is permitted at the Kalb Tennis Center and on the tennis and pickleball patios. Only appropriate racquet shoes may be worn on the courts.

  7. (g)  Golf Course, Golf Practice Areas, Ross Room and Golf Shop: Attire should meet the standards of good taste expected from the members and their Spouses and guests. Golf professional staff has the final say on Dress Code questions or concerns.

General Rules:

  • Dress denim is permitted in the Ross room, patios, and golf shop

  • Denim is prohibited on the course and practice areas

  • All clothing must be clean and well-maintained

  • Hoodies are allowed provided they display no large graphics

  • T-shirts, terrycloth, tank tops, cargo pants/shorts, workout attire, sweatpants, and swimwear are not permitted

 

  • ​Non-penetrating soft spike Golf shoes or Club approved shoes must be worn by all players.​
  • All hats must be worn with the visor facing forward

For Men:

  • Acceptable shirts include collared polo shirts, mock necks, or turtlenecks

  • All shirts must be tucked in

  • Golf shorts are permitted but must be longer than finger length when arms

    hang down by your side

  • Gym, basketball, jogging, and any athletic shorts are NOT permitted

  • Drawstring shorts/pants are not permitted, belts must be worn with shorts or pants


​For Ladies:

  • Acceptable shirts include collarless polos, mock necks, turtlenecks, Zip

    necks, and mandarin collars.

  • Skirts, skorts, shorts must be no shorter than fingertip length when arms

    hang down by your side

  • Sleeveless shirts must have collars

  • Halters, tank tops, and crop tops are not permitted

  • Leggings or yoga pants are permitted if they are a solid color, worn under

    a skirt or skort and are tight to the ankle or calf.

  • Non-penetrating soft spike

(h) Dress Denim is non-distressed or faded, clean, uniform in color, and has no holes, rips, cuts, tears, or frayed material (by design or because of wear). Where Dress Denim is allowed, Dress Denim includes jeans, dresses, skirts, and jackets. The following types of denim of any color are not permitted anywhere Dress Denim is allowed: shorts, work type denim, cargo style, bib overalls, painter pants, or denim that is worn low-cut or worn low slung.

(i) Dress Denim is allowed to be worn in all areas except while playing on the Racquet courts, golf course, golf practice areas, and while exercising in the Wellness Center.

All mobile devices, laptops, and tablets must be maintained in silent/vibration mode. Audible conversations on mobile devices and laptop use may only occur in the parking lots, and the Clubhouse function rooms (Conservatory, California, San Francisco and Bayside) on the second floor. Mobile devices may be used on the golf course (not practice areas or practice greens) with the permission of your playing partners. Mobile devices can be used for text messaging, emailing and internet use but must be non-audible and used with respect to fellow members. Use of tablets is permitted on the pool deck for reading purposes only. Use of laptops is permitted on the pool deck only at one or more designated tables but cannot be used for audible conversations and must be maintained in silent or vibration mode. No electronic devices may be used in or around the steam rooms, showers, saunas, or Jacuzzis or spas.

Members and guests are prohibited from giving cash gratuities to staff members of the Club.
